Construction Commences on New East Stroudsburg Volunteer Fire Station

In November, 2007, after nearly a year of negotiations, Dein Properties and East Stroudsburg Borough consummated an agreement for the borough to purchase 10,000 sq. ft. of space in Dein’s Burson St., East Stroudsburg multi-tenant industrial facility. The borough and the fire company were seeking solutions to problems with insufficient space and an aging facility on South Courtland Street. Dein’s property on Burson St. (also Lackawanna Ave and Chestnut St.) provided adequate space with the required flexibility for improvement into a fire station and a strategically ideal location for the fire company.

Since November, 2007 the borough and the fire company have been engaged in planning and site development approvals which were completed in early 2009. Plans for the inside of the new fire station include a garage area of over 3,500 sq. ft. which will be more than enough to handle the fire apparatus needs of the Borough for the foreseeable future. In addition to meeting rooms for the fire department and its officers, the new station will feature increased office and equipment storage areas, a communication room which can also double as an emergency operations center (EOC) for the Borough, and a kitchen and social room for fire company members. It is estimated that the total cost of renovations at the facility will exceed $1,200,000.

As of this writing, the site work, paving and landscaping have been completed. The construction contracts for the building renovations have been let and building renovations are to begin within days.

“We are excited about the improvements that are being made by the borough and we’re even more excited to count the Acme Hose Co. No. 1 as a new neighbor for our other tenants” said George K. Strunk, General Manager of Dein Properties. “The on-site presence of the fire company is a good thing for our facility and we’re glad to have been able to be a resource for the borough and the fire company” added Robert Deinarowicz, Jr., Managing Partner of Dein Properties.

It is expected that the improvements underway will be completed by the end of 2009.
